Candle Care Guide
At Cosy Time Candles, we craft each candle with the finest ingredients to bring warmth and luxury into your space. To ensure the best experience, follow our candle care guide to maintain an even burn, enhance longevity, and preserve the quality of your candle.
First Burn: Setting the Foundation
The first burn is the most important. Allow your candle to burn for at least 2-3 hours or until the melted wax reaches the edges of the vessel. This prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn throughout its life.
Wick Trimming: A Clean, Steady Flame
Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately 5mm. A properly trimmed wick prevents excessive soot, controls the flame size, and extends the candle’s life.
Burn Time: Maximising Longevity
Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. This helps prevent overheating and ensures an even wax pool. Allow the wax to fully solidify before relighting.
Optimal Placement: Safety & Performance
1) Always place your candle on a heat-resistant, stable surface.
2) Keep away from draughts, pets, children, and flammable objects.
3) Avoid moving a candle while the wax is liquid.
Extinguishing Your Candle: Preserving the Aroma
Blowing out a candle can cause excess smoke and disturb the wax pool. Instead, use a candle snuffer or gently dip the wick into the melted wax and straighten it again. This minimises smoke and helps maintain wick quality.
Storage: Keeping Your Candle in Perfect Condition
To preserve the scent and quality of your candle:
1) Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
2) Keep the lid on when not in use to protect against dust and fragrance loss.
Reusing & Recycling
Once your candle has burned down to the last 1cm of wax, discontinue use to prevent overheating. Repurpose your vessel as a decorative item, plant pot, or storage container.
